Anyone can freely use Holacracy in their organization. However if you would like to offer services to help other organizations adopt Holacracy, you will need to join one of our licensing programs. Our current licensing model includes two licensing programs:
The Agent Program is intended for individuals interested in delivering Holacracy workshops or services to customers and organizations from their network. You need to be at least a Certified Holacracy Practitioner to qualify for the Agent Program, and the higher your Holacracy certification, the more services you can deliver. The Agent Program does *not* allow you to market Holacracy services publicly other than the public introductory workshops. Becoming a public representative of the Holacracy brand requires joining the Provider Program.
Who is it for?
The Provider program is intended for organizations with proven records delivering Holacracy implementations, and which are now interested in publicly marketing Holacracy services and delivering on regular Holacracy adoptions. Licensed Providers are true representatives of the Holacracy brand, and as such HolacracyOne expects more from licensed Providers than Agents. At least one person in your organization must be a Certified Holacracy Coach to join the Provider program.

Certification & Assessments
HolacracyOne offers four levels of certification to recognize different degrees of expertise in Holacracy®. Certifications are granted after an individual completes relevant training and/or gains experience, and then demonstrates their new capacities by successfully passing an assessment.
Note: Holacracy certifications do not grant a license to use the Holacracy® trademark and intellectual property to market, sell, or deliver professional consulting services. These activities are reserved to members of our Licensing program. The Holacracy certifications described on this page are necessary but not sufficient to deliver Holacracy services as part of our licensing program. Here are the Holacracy credentials currently granted to individuals:
Level 1: Certified Holacracy Practitioner
This credential conveys that an individual knows how to practice Holacracy — to participate effectively in an organization’s usage of the system and operate within its rules and processes. This credential does not certify that an individual has the capacity to coach others in learning how to use Holacracy, although Certified Practitioners (CHP) are well-equipped to become supportive participants who can help stabilize and embed the new approach. The CHP credential is granted upon successful completion of the Holacracy Practitioner online assessment, which all participants to a Holacracy Practitioner Certification Training are invited to take. The CHP credential is valid for a period of 2 years and can be renewed by successfully passing the latest version of the Holacracy Practitioner online assessment.
Level 2: Certified Holacracy Facilitator
This credential conveys that an individual has all the capacities of a Certified Practitioner, and is additionally qualified to facilitate a newly-practicing circle effectively enough to keep the process and outputs generally aligned with the rules of Holacracy. However, it doesn’t convey a level of skill and experience sufficient to coach a newly-practicing circle towards deeper understanding and effectiveness of their Holacracy practice. The Certified Holacracy Facilitator (CHF) credential is given to Certified Practitioners who pass a real-time facilitation assessment demonstrating the skills needed to facilitate a newly-practicing circle effectively enough to keep the process and outputs generally aligned with the rules of Holacracy.
Level 3: Certified Holacracy Coach
This credential conveys that an individual has first-hand experience working within an organization running with the Holacracy operating system, has personally faced and integrated many of its unique paradigm shifts, and has demonstrated the capacity to coach others through such a transformation. A Certified Holacracy Coach (CHC) is thus well-equipped to facilitate an organization’s Holacracy implementation. The CHC credential is given to Certified Practitioners who pass a real-time facilitation assessment demonstrating the same skills as the prior certification, but at a level of skill and with a degree of coaching and explanation sufficient to lead a newly-practicing circle towards deeper understanding and effectiveness in their Holacracy practice.
Level 4: Certified Holacracy Master Coach
This credential conveys that an individual has the demonstrated capacity to support complex organizational transformations using Holacracy practices and principles, including adapting ancillary organizational processes to better align with the Holacracy operating system. The Certified Holacracy Master Coach (CHMC) credential is granted by an authorized HolacracyOne representative after a candidate is assessed over many months of actual Holacracy practice and implementation. There is currently no formal process to gain this credential.
